About Nordic Generation Fuels
Nordic Generation Fuels builds Sustainable Aviation Fuel production plants in Finland. The process starts with renewable electricity powering electrolysers, which produce green hydrogen; CO₂ is captured and converted into carbon feedstock, which is synthesised with hydrogen into liquid hydrocarbons and converted into a synthetic equivalent to kerosene.
The company says its aim is to provide fuel production infrastructure for the aviation industry so it can meet its climate targets, and that SAF can be used with existing aircraft and engines. It has secured its first sites, and development for the first site is underway. Its founding team has worked on sustainable fuels, with the last years focused on e-fuels.
Nordic Generation Fuels was founded in 2024 and is headquartered in Helsinki. It is backed by Octopus Energy Generation and Business Finland, and the company cites national support from the Finnish Government. Its team draws on experience in heavy process industry, industrial investments and the green transition.
