About Nordic Ren-Gas

Ren-Gas is a Finnish e-methane producer. It develops power-to-gas plants that make renewable e-methane, an RFNBO fuel, from renewable electricity and biogenic CO2. The plants also produce district heat, grid services and oxygen, and the company's SIMO platform is used to model and optimise the e-methane value chain.

Its customers are European gas offtakers, including buyers in heavy transport, maritime and industry. Ren-Gas plans to supply the Finnish national gas grid and European virtual trading hubs under long-term contracts, and it presents its revenue as coming from e-methane sales.

Ren-Gas was founded in 2021 in Espoo, Finland. Its investors include Ilkka Herlin and Allianz Capital Partners, which invested in late 2022. Its project pipeline covers plants in Tampere, Lahti and Kotka, and it has co-operation agreements with municipal energy companies in Mikkeli and Pori. The European Investment Bank increased its framework financing for Ren-Gas projects to EUR 680 million. The company has an open Process Specialist role in technology and design.
