About Atom Computing

Atom Computing builds gate-based quantum computers using arrays of optically-trapped neutral atoms. Its AC1000 system has more than 1,200 physical qubits, all-to-all qubit connectivity, mid-circuit measurement with qubit reuse and reset, and real-time conditional branching. The software side includes an API with OpenQASM and QIR support and a 20-qubit emulator.

The AC1000 is sold for installation and operation on-premises, so customers can run their own quantum systems, and the company offers nearby, in-person technical support. Its customers are companies and researchers, including academic and industry partners. In October 2026 the company was selected by DARPA for the final stage of the Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, and it has announced partnerships with Microsoft and Nu Quantum.

Atom Computing was founded in January 2018 and closed a $60M Series B in January 2022. Its offices are in Berkeley, Boulder and Austin. Open roles cover engineering, optics, control systems, manufacturing and quantum research.
