About Xpyro
Xpyro Oy develops PreFireX, a ready-to-use liquid sprayed onto vegetation or soil to form a heat-activated chemical firebreak against wildfires. It can be applied with hand pumps, fire hoses, farm machinery, aircraft or drones, and it protects sprayed areas for up to five days. After the fire danger has passed, the liquid turns into magnesium sulfate fertiliser in the soil.
Customers named on the company's site include the Finnish Defence Forces, agriculture and farming areas, military training areas, and critical infrastructure such as power plants, airports and factories. PreFireX is sold through distributors and works with application partners.
The legal entity was founded in 2017 and is based in Espoo, Finland. The company describes its origins in 2006, when the Finnish Defence Forces asked for a new fire-prevention substance. PreFireX holds granted patents in the USA, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Finland and the OAPI region, with applications pending in the EU, China, Brazil and the Philippines. Its performance has been tested by the Emergency Service Academy Finland and a forest fire laboratory in Greece. A Wildfire Demonstration Lead role in San Diego, CA was posted in February 2026.
