About Xiros

Xiros designs, develops, manufactures and markets sterile implantable medical devices and instruments for sports medicine and orthopaedics. Its implants are woven from polyester (PET) and manufactured in-house at dedicated sites in the UK. Selected implants receive a proprietary low-power cold gas plasma treatment. The product range includes ligament and tendon implants and fixation systems such as JewelACL, AchilloCordPLUS, Infinity-Lock and Pitch-Patch.

Its customers are surgeons, healthcare professionals and patients. Xiros sells its implants and surgical instruments to these customers, and it has used distributors, including one in Japan appointed in 1984.

The company was formed in Leeds, UK, in 1982 by Dr Bahaa Seedhom. It formed Xiros North America in 2019 and has FDA approval in the USA (2018). JewelACL received CE marking as a Class III product under the EU MDR in 2023. The company states it employs about 120 staff. Its careers page lists one open vacancy, for a cleaner.
