About Worthing Heat Network
Worthing Heat Network is a district heating network that uses an air source heat pump at an energy hub on the High Street in Worthing to heat water and distribute it through underground pipes to connected buildings. Buildings connect through a heat exchanger in place of a gas boiler.
The network is developed and operated by Hemiko under an evergreen concession agreement with Worthing Borough Council, which selected Hemiko as its partner. Hemiko funds, builds and operates the network. Non-domestic buildings in the town centre can connect now, and domestic connections are expected to be trialled street by street.
Construction began in summer 2024. Buildings to be heated include Worthing Hospital, the Connaught Theatre and Worthing Museum & Gallery. Hemiko states it will invest up to £500m in Worthing. The registered company is based in Carlisle.
Product: District heating network supplying hot water and heating to connected buildings from a central air source heat pump energy hub in Worthing.
