About VGC Software
VGC Software develops VGC Illustration, a vector graphics editor, and VGC Animation, a vector-based 2D animation editor. Both are built on a vector graphics complex data structure that tracks the connectivity between lines, so a shared border between two shapes is created and edited once. The animation editor extends this structure across frames and is designed to automate the generation of inbetweens.
The target customers are freelance artists and large animation studios. The company sells access under monthly or yearly subscriptions and under perpetual licences; a perpetual licence is unlocked after two consecutive years of subscription. Alpha versions are available to sponsors on Patreon. The source code is published on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 licence, and use on Linux is free of charge.
The company was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in Montpellier, France. It was founded by Boris Dalstein, a computer scientist who previously worked on animation research projects at Inria, Disney Research Zurich and Pixar Animation Studios. The applications are not yet released; they are planned for Windows, macOS and Linux first, and later for iPads and Android tablets.
Product: VGC Illustration vector graphics editor and VGC Animation vector-based 2D animation editor, sold by subscription or perpetual licence.
