About Squarehead Technology
Squarehead Technology AS designs and manufactures electronically steerable microphone arrays for audio capture. Its passive acoustic sensors detect drones and rocket, artillery and mortar events, and are used to monitor machinery performance and anticipate quality deviations in industrial facilities.
Customers are defense and security operators, as well as industrial sites in maritime operations, pulp and paper, and the metal industry. The company sells through its own subsidiaries, distributor channels and partnerships with system integrators.
Squarehead was founded in 2004 by three physics students at the University of Oslo, and two of the original founders are still on staff. The headquarters is in Oslo, and the company has a US subsidiary in Hickory, North Carolina. It reports staff in four countries. In 2026 it won the Blue Maritime Innovation Award and joined Ocean Industry Forum Oslofjord. Open roles include a Sales Manager - Defense and a Manufacturing Test Engineer based in Fredrikstad.
