About Wavetrain Systems

Wavetrain Systems develops the Wavetrain Level Crossing Protection system, which uses acoustic sensors mounted on the rails to detect approaching trains at passive level crossings. A nearby control unit triggers warning measures, and all components are installed at the crossing site.

The company sells its system to railway authorities and infrastructure operators, with the product positioned for large-scale, low-cost upgrades of passive level crossings. Its majority owner is Nordic Technology Group AS, which holds 84% of the shares.

Wavetrain Systems AS was founded in August 2009 following research and development conducted by NORSAR. Its headquarters is in Lysaker, Norway. The website references deployments and approvals in the UK, Sweden and Austria, and states certifications including CENELEC SIL 2, IEC 61508, ISO 9001, 14001, 27001 and 45001.

Product: Acoustic train detection and warning system for passive level crossings, with sensors mounted on the rails and a control unit.
