About PYREG
PYREG builds industrial carbonization systems that convert organic residues into biochar, recovered thermal energy and biochar carbon removal credits. The systems process forestry waste, crop residues, food processing by-products, biosolids and sewage sludge, with emissions control designed to destroy PFAS, PAHs, dioxins and microplastics.
Customers are public entities and industrial operators. Alongside its systems, PYREG offers project support services, including feedstock testing, techno-economic analysis, engineering and system integration support, biochar carbon removal credit strategy, international logistics and operator training.
PYREG GmbH was founded in 2009 as a spin-off to manufacture the systems, based on technology developed at TH Bingen from 1999. The company reports more than 55 systems delivered in over 14 countries and more than 80 employees. It has a US subsidiary in Portland, Maine. A current open position is a Commercial Project Manager – Plant Technology based in Cologne (hybrid).
