About People Places Lives
People Places Lives Ltd provides direct payment accounts, a software and managed service for handling direct payments, personal health budgets and one-off payments. Its Virtual Wallet platform covers account and payment management, recruitment of personal assistants, timesheet approval and wage payroll, alongside a person-based independent living advice service.
Customers are individuals and families who receive social care or NHS funding. The company contracts with local authorities, NHS organisations and other health and social care organisations across the UK, via public procurement processes or frameworks such as G-Cloud.
Formed in 2008 as shop4support, a joint venture with the charity InControl, the company was later known as Public Partnerships and Public Consulting Group before renaming to People Places Lives Limited in August 2023. Its head office is in Wigan, with additional offices in Richmond, North Yorkshire and Sheffield. It employs 119 staff across the country. On 1 June 2026 it welcomed the team and customers of People Plus Independent Living Services.
