About Micro:bit Educational Foundation
The Micro:bit Educational Foundation is a non-profit organisation that continues the BBC micro:bit programme. It provides teacher content, guides for the MakeCode and Python programming tools, classroom projects, and AI and machine learning activities built around the micro:bit.
Its audience is teachers, educators and children in schools and non-formal education settings. The website describes the Foundation's work as providing teacher content, products, partnerships and research with partners around the world; it does not describe a revenue model.
The Foundation was established in October 2016. Its website states that 73.5 million young people have learnt with micro:bit and that it is used in more than 85 countries. Some roles are based at its Oxford office and others are fully remote. Its only listed open role is a Finance Manager (Operations), remote in the UK.
Product: Free micro:bit programming resources, including MakeCode and Python guides, classroom projects, free online teacher courses and micro:bit CreateAI activities.
