About Human Cell Design
Human Cell Design develops human cell models and provides contract research (CRO) services for diabetes and obesity drug research. Its EndoC-βH5™ line is a stable human beta cell model. The ADAPT™ platform produces genetically modified versions of these cells, and the patented NatLine™ platform matures human iPSC or progenitor cells into differentiated cells at scale.
Services cover in vitro profiling, including receptor specificity and internalisation for GLP-1R, GIPR and GCGR, β-arrestin recruitment, insulin secretion and cAMP, cytokine-mediated inflammation, T1D T-cell killing, T2D glucolipotoxicity, cell culture and banking, and human sample collection. Customers are pharmaceutical and biotech partners; projects are scoped with the client and run in go/no-go steps.
The company was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Toulouse, France. It was formed in 2015 from the combination of UniverCell Biosolutions and EndoCells. Its management team includes a CEO, a CSO and a scientific director, and the company lists open positions on its careers page.
