About eniferBio

eniferBio produces PEKILO® mycoprotein, a fungi-based protein ingredient with neutral taste and colour. The fungus is grown in tanks through fermentation, using agri-food industry side streams as raw material. Product variants are offered for food, pet food and aquafeed.

Customers are manufacturers in the food, pet food and aquafeed industries, who use PEKILO® as a drop-in ingredient. Recent announcements include a dry pet food with PEKILO® developed with Prima Pet in Finland (April 2026) and a plant-based dog food from HenArt in the Netherlands that uses PEKILO® (October 2026). Investors include Nordic Foodtech VC, Aqua Spark, Voima Ventures, Tesi, VTT Holding, Valio and Taaleri Bioindustry.

The company was founded in 2020 by scientists from the Technical Research Centre of Finland to revive PEKILO® production, which had run in Finland from 1975 to 1991. It is headquartered in Espoo, Finland, and reported a team of 35. Commissioning of its factory in Kantvik started in September 2026.
