About Elphogene
Elphogene is a Prague-based biotechnology company that develops oncoMonitor, a molecular test for detecting cancer progression and monitoring treatment. The test analyses circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) from patients' blood, a liquid biopsy approach that allows non-invasive monitoring.
The test was developed primarily for patients with advanced-stage colorectal cancer. The company has investigated ctDNA from patients' blood since 2009 and reports having examined more than 500 patients in research studies, with long-term postoperative ctDNA monitoring in at least 30 of them. The executive team is led by CEO Marek Minarik, Ph.D.
Elphogene was founded in December 2018 as a spin-off from the Genomac Research Institute in Prague. In 2023, Marek Minárik, one of the two original founders, became the sole owner. The company received an initial investment from i&i Prague, and its research has been presented at conferences such as the AACR Annual Meeting 2025 and published in scientific journals.
