About Desert Control
Desert Control is a climate tech company that develops Liquid Natural Clay (LNC), a patented process that mixes natural minerals and water into a liquid. The liquid is applied through the customer's existing irrigation system and forms a layer on sand particles that helps degraded soil retain water and nutrients. Each mineral type requires a custom composition, so the company uses mobile production units that mix LNC on site.
Customers include farmers and growers, permanent crops such as orchards and vineyards, agribusinesses and food companies, golf courses and resorts, parks and public spaces, and turf and sports fields. Treatments are project-based: each project is planned after a soil analysis, based on water availability, clay source, irrigation method and topography. The company reports 42 tier-1 customer pilots year to date.
Desert Control was founded in 2017 according to its registry record, and its website states that its roots go back to 2007. The company is headquartered in Sandnes, Norway. Its LNC technology is patented in around 50 countries with desertification problems, and it has field work in the United States, including turf trials at California State University, Fullerton and research at UC Riverside, and in the United Arab Emirates, including Masdar City.
Product: Liquid Natural Clay (LNC), a patented clay-and-water soil treatment applied through existing irrigation systems and mixed on site.
