About Cartesian
Cartesian AS designs and produces the Thermal Box, a modular thermal battery that stores heat or cold in phase change materials. Each module stores 60–125 kWh and operates between −20 °C and +120 °C. The Standard and Advanced versions add a pump skid, controller and, in Advanced, a cloud management system that optimises charging against spot prices and CO₂ signals.
Customers include commercial and public buildings, data centres, logistics centres, district heating or cooling networks and energy service companies. Units are delivered to projects through distribution partners, including technical contractors, energy service companies and utilities.
Cartesian was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in Trondheim, Norway, where its team works across engineering, commercial and operations. The company lists an R&D testbed reference at the SINTEF ZEB Lab in Trondheim and is hiring engineers, business developers and project managers.
