About Biomemory
Biomemory develops DNA data storage and offers DNA Shield, a managed service for sovereign data protection that holds small, irreplaceable data offline and separated from the systems it protects. Planned products include DNA Storage for long-term archiving from 2029, with DNA search and compute on the roadmap.
Its customers are enterprise IT organisations. Initial use cases include key custody continuity, crown-jewel IP protection, regulated integrity records and sovereign memory. The company sells directly and, since June 2026, also through a partnership with the cloud and data storage provider Scality. DNA Shield is available in restricted form from Q4 2026 through an Early Access Program.
Biomemory was spun out of Sorbonne University and CNRS in 2021 by Stéphane Lemaire and Pierre Crozet. Its headquarters are in Paris, and it also runs DNA production and research in Boston, following its 2026 acquisition of assets from Catalog. The company raised €18 million in 2024 from Bpifrance, Crédit Mutuel Innovation, Blast and other investors, and reports more than 90 patents. Vincent Franceschini, its Head of Product, is co-chair of the DNA Data Storage Alliance, a SNIA community.
Product: DNA Shield, a managed service for sovereign data protection using synthetic DNA storage; DNA Storage and DNA Search and Compute are planned.
