About Befc

BeFC develops paper-based biofuel cells that use enzymes to power low-power electronics, alongside electronic platforms with sensors and wireless data transmission. Its cells are flexible, recyclable and designed as alternatives to miniature batteries.

Customers and applications include packaging, wearables, single-use medical devices, logistics and IoT. The company supplies energy solutions and monitoring platforms adapted to customer product specifications.

Founded in 2020 as a CNRS spin-off, BeFC is headquartered in Villard-Bonnot, France, with facilities in Gières and an office in North Carolina. It raised seed funding and a Series A investment, and has entered commercialisation.

Product: Paper-based biofuel cells and sensor platforms combining sensors with wireless communication for low-power electronics.
