About Amicoat

Amicoat develops antimicrobial coating technology for medical devices, built around its patented antimicrobial peptide voxvoganan. The company states that voxvoganan is effective against more than 250 microbes, including antibiotic-resistant ones.

Its customers are medical device partners. Amicoat supports them with feasibility testing of incorporating voxvoganan into materials, product development from idea to market, and regulatory documentation. It signed its first commercial contract in April 2023 with an undisclosed partner. In 2024, Kistefos AS invested 50 MNOK in the company, and the Research Council of Norway funded an Industrial PhD at Amicoat.

Amicoat was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Asker, Norway. Its research origins are at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, where its founder and colleagues began researching antimicrobial peptides in the 1990s.
