Wohnio

Wohnio builds a platform for monitoring and optimising central heating systems in multi-storey residential buildings. A small IoT box, installed by the company's in-house electricians, connects an existing heating plant to the platform, which collects operating and sensor data, shows it on a dashboard and raises alerts for technical faults. AI and IoT analysis is used to identify heating curves and efficiency gains from real operating data.

The customers are property owners (Bestandshalter), property management firms (Hausverwaltungen) and energy service providers. Services are sold as a package that includes installation, continuous remote optimisation, monitoring and a half-yearly digital check of the heating plant. Named customer projects include the ÖSW portfolio, where energy consumption was reduced by an average of 25%, and a BWSG residential project in Vienna. The company states an average reduction of 18.8% in energy consumption.

Wohnio GmbH was founded in 2023 by Kevin Bauer and was developed with ÖSW, Sozialbau AG, BWSG and FH Burgenland. It has offices in Vienna, Austria, and received the Innovationspreis 2026. Open roles are for an electrical engineer for IoT and AI GreenTech projects and an IoT and integration engineer, both in Vienna.
