About Waga Energy

Waga Energy builds, owns and operates WAGABOX® units that upgrade landfill gas into grid-compliant biomethane. The technology combines membrane separation with cryogenic distillation and is stated to recover 90% of the methane in landfill gas.

The company works with landfill owners, who supply the gas and receive a royalty linked to production or a land lease payment, and with offtakers such as industrial companies, energy providers and local authorities that buy the biomethane. Under its build-own-operate model, Waga Energy finances, builds and runs the units, and sells the biomethane through long-term private agreements.

Founded in 2015, the company reports 58 WAGABOX® units worldwide, with 20 under construction and 38 operational, and 2,338 GWh of biomethane injected since 2015. It lists offices and hubs in Grenoble, Miami, Bala Cynwyd, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro and Shawinigan, and has open roles in projects, operations and maintenance, supply chain and renewable natural gas.
