About Volare

Volare Oy refines food industry side streams using black soldier fly larvae into protein meal, oil and organic fertilizer ingredients. Its products are offered for aquafeed, pet food, agriculture and oleochemical uses. The company was spun off from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, where its founders met while researching ways to keep nutrients in the food chain.

Customers include aquafeed and pet food businesses, which the company's demonstration plant already serves with ingredients for product launches and industrial testing. Volare is building its first industrial-scale plant in Finland. The company describes its oil as a locally produced alternative to palm kernel oil, due to its high lauric acid content. It also lists future applications in biofuels, medical uses, and textile and paint pigments.
