About vms.de
Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen GmbH (VMS, also referred to as ZVMS) coordinates public transport in central Saxony. It provides a common tariff and timetable, procures rail passenger services, organises school transport, and develops the Chemnitzer Modell. It also manages rail infrastructure and operates the Drahtseilbahn Augustusburg.
Its customers are rail and bus passengers in the association's area, along with pupils and parents who use school transport. The association coordinates 17 partner transport companies, which together operate about 1,000 buses, 110 trams and 80 trains.
The company is based in Chemnitz and covers the cities of Chemnitz and Zwickau, the Erzgebirgskreis, and the Landkreise Mittelsachsen and Zwickau, serving about 1.2 million people. It reports around 80 million passengers per year and about 100 own employees. Current openings include project controlling and funding management, IT project staff, and project coordination for the Betriebshof Chemnitz Hauptbahnhof.
