About univention.de

Univention GmbH develops open-source identity and access management (IAM) software. Its main product, Nubus, is a central IAM and portal platform offering single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, role-based rights management and user lifecycle automation, with more than 60 pre-configured integrations and open interfaces such as OIDC, SAML, LDAP and REST. UCS@school is its variant for education, with automated school-year changes and connections to school administration and state directory services.

The company sells Enterprise subscriptions for Nubus and UCS@school, priced per user per year, with support delivered through certified partners, alongside a free Core Edition and optional project consulting. Its customers are organisations in public administration, education and research, industry, and services and trade. The products are published under the GNU AGPLv3 licence and can run on-premises, in the cloud or as SaaS.

Univention was founded in 2002 and is led by managing directors Peter Ganten (CEO) and Stefan Gohmann (COO). The company states that its solutions are used by more than 14,000 organisations and manage more than 35 million identities. Current job openings are in Bremen, Berlin, Leipzig and remote, covering sales, IT consulting, project management, Linux and Kubernetes support and professional services.
