About Treemium
Treemium runs a platform for growing forests that uses drones with LiDAR and multispectral sensors to identify and characterise trees one by one. Each tree is represented as a digital token on a blockchain, which stores its timestamped characteristics and the conditions for exchange set in a smart contract. The platform focuses on oak, which is sold for cooperage, framing, furniture and joinery.
The platform serves forest owners (sylviculteurs), who can sell 40% of a selected tree to receive immediate revenue while keeping co-ownership, and individual investors, who buy shares of trees and receive 40% of the revenue at harvest. Investors can exchange their tree tokens for liquidity, according to the site.
Treemium is a French SAS headquartered in Paris and was founded in 2022. The site lists Georgine de Saporta as founder, with Matis Veniant and Maxime de Ladoucette as co-founders.
