About theater-magdeburg.de
Theater Magdeburg stages opera, ballet, musical theatre and drama productions in several venues, including the Opernhaus, the Schauspielhaus and Kammer 2. The Magdeburgische Philharmonie, the house's orchestra, performs symphony concerts in the same program. The theatre also publishes a theatre blog that covers the people and processes behind its productions.
Its audiences are theatre and concert visitors in Magdeburg, and the house runs outreach (Vermittlung) projects for them. Its drama ensemble is to be led from the 2027/28 season by Lily Sykes, and the food and beverage operation in the Schauspielhaus has been leased to a new operator, Florian Köhler, under a five-year contract starting 1 May 2026. In 2026 the outreach projects received the first prize in the urban space category of the Commerzbank-Stiftung ZukunftsGut-Preis.
Open positions for the 2026/27 season include a mask artist, a stage technician for the opera house, a master technician for event technology and a dramaturge for musical theatre. The theatre also offers unpaid internships of one week to three months in areas such as stage and costume design and direction.
Product: Opera, ballet, drama and musical theatre productions, symphony concerts by the Magdeburgische Philharmonie, and outreach projects.
