About The Warming Surfaces Company
The Warming Surfaces Company commercialises Halia, a patent-protected radiant warming technology. Low-voltage warming tracks, thinner than paper, are embedded in the top layers of furniture, HPL laminates, walls and other interior surfaces and are controlled in real time, similar to lighting. The first application is warming tables, and the company also offers warming terrace tables as an alternative to energy-consuming terrace heaters.
Target customers are surface material and furniture manufacturers, who integrate the warmers into their products, and architects and designers. The technology is also positioned for retrofitting into existing homes and buildings through common home automation interfaces, and for prefabricated elements in modular construction.
The company was founded in Oulu, Finland, on 11 November 2022 as a spin-out from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, through its VTT LaunchPad incubator programme. Shareholders include VTT, Innovestor, CM-Equity AG and private investors from seven countries. Development has received co-funding from Business Finland, ELY-keskus and the EU.
Product: Halia radiant warming layers integrated into furniture, HPL laminates and interior surfaces; first offered in warming tables.
