About Stour Environmental Credits

Stour Environmental Credits (SEC) sells phosphorus and nitrogen nutrient neutrality credits, which are used to offset the nutrient impact of developments in the Stour catchment.

Its customers are developers who buy credits for developments within the catchment. SEC is a not-for-profit organisation governed by a Board of Directors, and the proceeds from credit sales are reinvested in local initiatives that further mitigate nutrient pollution, in line with Kent County Council's Stodmarsh Catchment Nutrient Mitigation Strategy.

SEC was formed through the collaboration of Ashford Borough Council and Canterbury City Council and is registered at Companies House, with a founding date of 17 December 2024. Its headquarters is in Ashford. The website reports 37 applications supported, 110 homes enabled, and 8.73 kg of phosphorus and 145.05 kg of nitrogen credits sold.

Product: Phosphorus and nitrogen nutrient neutrality credits for developments in the River Stour catchment.
