About Salten Aqua-gruppen
Salten Aqua-gruppen runs salmon production from broodstock and eggs through smolt production, grow-out, slaughter and packing, further processing and sales. The group carries out these stages in-house, including broodstock selection at Salten Stamfisk, smolt production at Salten Smolt in Breivik, and filleting, portioning and smoking at Salten Salmon in Bodø.
Salmon is sold through Polar Quality AS, the group's sales and export company, to retailers and restaurants in Norway and internationally. Polar Quality sells about 20,000–30,000 tonnes of salmon per year. Slaughtering is done at Salten N950 in Sørarnøy, Gildeskål municipality.
The group was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Breivik i Salten, Norway. The smolt facility in Breivik opened in 2022 and produces about 8 million smolt a year; the Bodø filleting plant opened in 2019. A planned export company, formed from the merger of Polar Quality and Fram Seafood, has named Bjørn Olvik as chief executive. Current job openings are for production workers at Salten Salmon in Bodø and technicians at Salten N950 in Sørarnøy.
