About Recyclus Group
Recyclus Group Ltd recycles end-of-life lithium-ion batteries of any type, chemistry or condition at an industrial-scale plant in Wolverhampton. The process recovers black mass containing lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese cathode metals. The company also offers the LiBox, a solution for safe storage and transportation of lithium-ion batteries.
Customers include automotive manufacturers, portable electronics and WEEE collectors, healthcare organisations, robotics and e-mobility operators, waste and recycling companies, and energy and utility firms. Revenue comes from gate fees for accepting batteries and from the sale of recovered critical metals, including black mass.
Recyclus was incorporated in December 2019. Its Project COMET consortium, run through its LiBatt Recycling subsidiary with Mint Innovation, JLR and WMG at the University of Warwick, has secured £8.1 million in funding and is scheduled to finish in 2028.
