About PPLUK
PPL is the UK music licensing organisation that collects royalties for performers and recording rightsholders. It licenses the use of recorded music to radio stations, TV channels and some online services, and collects royalties from other countries through a network of more than 110 agreements with other collective management organisations.
Membership is free and open to anyone who performs on, or owns rights to, commercially recorded music. The company says it represents more than 150,000 members and deducts operating costs before distributing licensing royalties to them. Its repertoire database holds details on over 28 million sound recordings.
PPL operates the Repertoire Data Exchange (RDx), a music data exchange service built with IFPI and WIN, and is named in the company's materials as a founding part of the Virtual Recording Database (VRDB) work. The company states it has championed music rights for 90 years and runs the PPL Giving and PPL Momentum programmes. It is hiring for a Communications Manager and an International Operations Manager, both in London.
