About Optasia

Optasia provides Optasia Engine 2.0, a platform that runs the credit lifecycle (origination, decisioning, disbursement and collections) using behavioural and transaction signals and more than 200 proprietary AI models. The website states that decisions are returned in under a second. Products built on the platform include airtime and data credit, nano and bullet loans, telco BNPL, overdraft, merchant loans, line of credit and electricity advance.

Its customers are distribution partners such as mobile network operators, banks and digital wallets, along with funding partners that extend capital into digitally originated portfolios. The website describes a B2B2X model in which partners offer credit under their own brands while Optasia supplies decisioning, integration and lifecycle management.

The company was established in 2012 as Channel VAS and renamed Optasia in 2021. It has been listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange since November 2025, with FirstRand as a 26.1% strategic shareholder, and acquired Finergi in 2026. Job postings list locations in Athens, Dubai, London, Johannesburg, Nairobi, Kuala Lumpur and Dar es Salaam, with open roles in data science, risk, information security, sales, HR and customer success.
