About Onego Bio

Onego Bio produces Bioalbumen®, an egg protein powder made through precision fermentation. The product is ovalbumin, the main protein in egg white, produced by the fungus Trichoderma reesei without animals. The company spun out of VTT Technical Research Centre in Finland in 2022.

Its customers are food manufacturers. Bioalbumen® is supplied as a powder for large-scale food production and is used in baked goods, confectionery, snacks, beverages, sauces, pasta and meat alternatives.

Onego Bio is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, and opened an office in San Diego, California, in 2024 as its U.S. commercial headquarters. The company closed a Series A funding round in summer 2024 with over $40 million in capital. It has selected Jefferson County, Wisconsin, for its flagship manufacturing facility and has received an FDA "no questions" letter on the GRAS status of Bioalbumen®.
