About Nextcloud

Nextcloud develops Nextcloud Hub, an open source, self-hosted content collaboration platform that combines Files, Talk, Groupware, Office, Assistant and Flow. Customers can run it on their own servers or at hosting providers, and the site also describes an on-premises AI assistant that can use locally hosted language models.

Target customers named on the website are public sector organizations, enterprises, service providers that offer branded cloud storage to their own customers, and education institutions. The enterprise edition is sold through a per-user annual subscription with tiered plans starting at 100 users, while the core software is published under the AGPL license.

Nextcloud GmbH was founded in 2016 by Frank Karlitschek, according to the team page. The company lists offices in Berlin and Stuttgart and says its team works remotely across many countries; the 2023 history entry mentions 100 team members. The current job listings are all based in Stuttgart, Germany or open to remote and Berlin locations, covering legal, finance, HR, engineering, marketing and events roles.

Product: Nextcloud Hub: self-hosted file sync and share, video chat, groupware, online office, AI assistant and workflow automation, available as open source with an enterprise subscription.
