About Nanordica Medical
Nanordica Medical develops the Nanordica® Advanced Antibacterial Wound Dressing, a sterile, single-use dressing with a wound contact layer made of natural silk nanofibers. The nanofibers carry antibacterial nanoparticles based on the company's Premotiv® nanotechnology, which is designed to prevent infection and promote wound healing at the same time. The dressing is offered in non-adhesive and adhesive versions in several sizes and is indicated for diabetic foot ulcers, surgical, traumatic and infected wounds. The company states that it does not contain traditional antibiotics.
A randomized controlled trial at the North Estonian Medical Centre with 30 patients with diabetic foot ulcers reported that wounds treated with Nanordica dressings healed nearly twice as fast as those treated with silver-based dressings. The company has ISO 13485:2016 certification for its quality management system. It is a spin-off of Estonia's National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics and was founded by scientists and medical doctors.
The company was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. It has closed a €1.6M equity round to commercialize the Premotiv® wound dressing, and its diabetic foot ulcer clinical trial has been expanded to 11 centers. The company's team is described as scientists, medical doctors and business experts.
Product: Nanordica® Advanced Antibacterial Wound Dressing: sterile, single-use silk-nanofiber dressing with Premotiv® antibacterial nanoparticles, in adhesive and non-adhesive sizes.
