About Nanomakers
Nanomakers designs, produces and sells patented silicon-based nanopowders in industrial quantities. Its silicon carbide (SiC) powders increase the mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance of elastomers, polymers, ceramics, metals and composites, while silicon (Si) and carbon-coated silicon powders increase the energy density of Li-ion battery anodes. The powders are made by laser pyrolysis, a process first developed at MIT in 1980 and taken over by CEA in 1985; Nanomakers has used the licensed technology since 2010 and has produced at industrial scale since 2012.
Its customers are manufacturers of industrial materials and battery producers, and the company names aerospace among its application markets. It sells the nanopowders to these industrial buyers.
Nanomakers was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Rambouillet, France. It received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and has exhibited at Battery Show Europe in Stuttgart, Batteries Event in Lyon and the ICSCRM 2024 conference in Raleigh, NC.
