Mutares SE & Co. KGaA is a special situations private equity investor. It acquires carve-outs from large corporations and companies in turnaround situations, then runs active restructuring and optimisation programmes with an in-house consulting team. Mutares describes a four-phase model of acquisition, realignment, optimisation and harvesting, and uses buy-and-build add-on acquisitions in its holdings.
