About Mission Therapeutics
Mission Therapeutics is a drug discovery and development company that designs small-molecule inhibitors of deubiquitylating enzymes (DUBs). Its lead candidates, MTX325 and MTX652, inhibit the DUB USP30 and aim to promote mitophagy, the cellular process that removes dysfunctional mitochondria. MTX652 is in the clinic and MTX325 is in a Phase 1b study in Parkinson's disease.
The company's DUB platform includes an in-house medicinal chemistry team and a proprietary DUB-specific compound library of more than 17,000 molecules. Programmes are developed in-house and, in some cases, with other pharmaceutical companies; its target patients include people with Parkinson's disease, other neurodegenerative diseases, heart and kidney diseases, fibrosis and rare mitochondrial diseases. It has received £117 million in venture capital, including from IP Group, Roche Venture Fund and Pfizer Venture Investments, and announced a $13.3 million raise in October 2025.
Mission was founded in 2011 and is headquartered in Cambridge, UK, at the Babraham Research Campus, where it moved in May 2020. It has research collaborations with the Michael J Fox Foundation, the Gurdon Institute at the University of Cambridge, the Oxford Parkinson's Disease Centre and the Wellcome Trust Mitochondrial Research Centre at Newcastle University.
Product: Small-molecule DUB inhibitor drug candidates, including MTX325 and MTX652 targeting USP30, developed in-house and with partners
