About martbids.ie
MartBids is a platform for buying and selling animals through real-time bidding and live video streams from livestock mart sales around Ireland. It also has a companion app. The service was launched by the Irish Farmers Journal in 2017 in partnership with livestock marts, initially as a catalogue for viewing animals before and during auctions.
Customers are farmers who buy and sell livestock and the livestock marts that run the sales. Registration is free and allows users to watch live sales and buy animals online. To bid in a live sale, a user registers a herd number with the chosen mart, and the mart must approve the request before bidding is possible. Selling requires the same permission from the mart.
In 2020, during COVID-19 restrictions, MartBids was developed further into a live bidding and viewing tool so that marts could continue to operate.
Product: Web platform for real-time bidding and live video viewing of livestock mart sales, with buying and selling of animals online.
