About mahi.be

MAHI provides an open, modular maritime autonomy stack for uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) and crewed vessels. The stack combines edge computers, AI navigation models and remote operation software, and is designed to integrate with compatible maritime equipment. The MAHI Sense system is described as type-approved for installation on internationally certified seagoing vessels.

Customers include defence organisations and commercial maritime operators. The website names the Belgian Navy, the UK Ministry of Defence, Ultratug, DEME and Port of Antwerp-Bruges among its partners and customers, and lists defence missions such as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and mine counter-measures, as well as commercial uses such as coastal navigation and port inspections.

The work started in 2015 as a project by a group of engineers building autonomous vessels. In 2022 the vessel Mahi Two became the first autonomous vessel to cross the Atlantic purely on solar power, covering 8,000 km to Martinique. The team includes co-founders Bertold Van den Bergh and Quinten Lauwers, and Pieter-Jan Note is listed as Co-Founder and CEO.

Product: MAHI Sense autonomy computer and an open, modular maritime autonomy software stack for USVs and crewed vessels.
