Luxmet

Luxmet develops real-time measurement systems based on optical emission spectroscopy (OES) for metallurgical processes. Its ArcSpec system measures and analyses the melting progression of electric arc furnace (EAF) hot spots to support control of electrode power and other process variables. ArcSpecLF monitors the temperature and composition of molten slag in ladle furnaces, and TempSpec provides continuous online temperature measurement in high-temperature metallurgical processes.

Customers are steel and metals producers. Products can be bought as systems or as turnkey services, including an assessment period before a purchase decision and continuous service that covers use and maintenance. The company also offers fixed-term customized OES measurement campaigns for high-temperature processes.

Luxmet was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Oulu, Finland. Its technology is based on more than a decade of research at the University of Oulu. Recent company news includes the full commissioning of ArcSpec in South Korea (September 2026), an exclusive agency agreement with SRB International for promoting its products in India (September 2026), and the installation of its monitoring technology at Swerim's pilot EAF in Luleå, Sweden, within the EU-funded H2PlasmaRed project (October 2026).
