About Kyoto Group
Kyoto Group develops Heatcube, a molten-salt thermal battery that stores electricity as high-temperature heat and discharges steam in the 150–300°C range for industrial process heat. The company states a round-trip efficiency above 93% and a lifetime of more than 25 years, and positions Heatcube as a replacement for fossil-fired boilers.
Customers are energy-intensive industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, manufacturing and heavy industry. Heatcube is sold under two models: Heat-as-a-Service, where Kyoto installs, operates and maintains the system and the customer pays only for the steam it uses, and Heat-as-a-Product, where the customer owns the unit. Named references include a Heatcube installed at KALL Ingredients in Hungary.
Kyoto Group was founded in 2016 in Oslo, Norway, and has an office in Seville, Spain, where Kyoto Technology Spain was created after the 2022 acquisition of Mercury Energy. The company has been owned since 2024 by Glentra Capital, a Danish energy fund. The website reports more than 70 MWh of installed storage capacity in Europe. An open role is listed for a Senior Field Operations Specialist in Seville.
