Ekkow runs licensed content distribution and licensing infrastructure. It places rights-cleared news articles with platforms, enterprises and AI developers, and offers structured, data-enriched article content as a licensed alternative to scraping. In Japan the service is called Echo and was formerly known as Nordot; from 1 October 2026 it is operated by Kyodo News Digital.
Supply-side customers are news owners, publishers and content creators who license their articles for distribution. Distribution destinations and enterprise or AI customers license content from them. Rights holders receive advertising revenue shares from distribution destinations and fixed licence fees. The Japanese service aggregates more than 700 media outlets.
Ekkow was founded in New York in 2020 with Kyodo News support and is headquartered in New York. The company states that its teams operate across North America, Europe and Asia, and that its distribution network covers more than 40 countries.
