About Kemiwatt
Kemiwatt develops long-duration energy storage systems using organic redox flow battery technology. The systems reuse existing liquid storage tanks and support applications such as grid congestion relief, renewable energy integration, self-consumption and shore power.
Its customers include ports, tank storage operators and industrial clusters. The company was created in 2014 as a spin-off from the Institute of Chemical Sciences in Rennes; its technology combines aqueous organic electrolytes with electrochemical stacks.
Kemiwatt is based in Rennes, France. In 2025, it welcomed strategic investors from the terminal and maritime industries and reported tank-storage projects under development in Europe.
Product: Long-duration organic flow battery systems that repurpose existing tanks for energy storage.
