About Integral Powertrain
Integral Powertrain Ltd, which trades as Helix, develops and manufactures electric motors and inverters, designed and built in-house. Its products serve road and track vehicles, marine craft, aircraft and off-highway applications. Products are offered at three levels: stock units, configured variants of proven designs, and custom builds based on its Scalable Core Technology.
Customers are OEMs and programmes in automotive, motorsport, aerospace, defence and marine sectors, and include classic car restoration and aircraft projects. The company sells standard, configured and custom electric drive products, including series production of electric drives. Its history also includes engineering consultancy work for OEM powertrain projects.
The company was founded in 1998 by four directors who had worked together at the Cosworth Technology road engine business. Its Shenley Technical Centre in Milton Keynes, which opened in June 2020, houses engineering and manufacturing alongside a flexible manufacturing facility. Certifications include ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949 and AS9100. A majority stake in the company was acquired by MiddleGround Capital, a private equity firm.
