About Ilmatar Energy

Ilmatar Energy is an independent power producer (IPP) and renewable energy developer in the Nordics. It identifies sites, develops, finances, constructs and operates onshore wind farms, solar farms and energy storage (BESS). It runs a 24/7 in-house power trading desk that trades on the Nord Pool day-ahead and intraday markets and participates in ancillary service markets.

Its customers include large corporations and industrial users, electricity retailers and the Nord Pool power exchange. It sells electricity through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) and leases land from landowners for its projects.

The company was registered in Finland in 2023 and is headquartered in Helsinki, with offices in Tampere and Oulu. Its project portfolio covers approximately 8 GW, and it reports having produced 1.3 TWh of renewable energy in 2024. Projects are located in Finland and Sweden, and it employs around 60 people.
