About Howden Group Holdings
Howden Group Holdings is an employee-owned insurance group. It operates across the insurance value chain in retail, specialty, wholesale, underwriting, reinsurance and capital markets. Its underwriting arm, DUAL, is a managing general agent with more than 1,800 people in 21 countries, offering solutions across 70 product lines. Howden Re, its reinsurance business, manages USD $17bn of gross written premium.
Retail services are provided to individual private clients, SMEs and global corporations. Specialty and wholesale services are provided to corporate clients, other brokers, professional insurance buyers, governments and financial institutions, with DUAL serving more than 11,000 broker partners. The group's revenue comes from its insurance intermediary and underwriting activities.
Howden began in 1994 and is headquartered in London, with international offices and coverage in over 100 territories. The group has 25,000 people and manages $54bn of premiums for its clients. In October 2026 it launched an Employee Benefits & Pension business in Sweden. It offers apprenticeships, internships, graduate roles and insight programmes, with applications for 2027 apprenticeship roles open.
