About Glycanostics

Glycanostics, s.r.o. is developing a non-invasive liquid biopsy test for early-stage prostate cancer. The test uses antibody-coated magnetic particles to capture a glycoprotein biomarker from a small serum sample, which requires 10 µL of blood, and generates an optical signal when the biomarker is present. The company states the test is accurate to up to 90% and is compatible with ELISA-based clinical equipment and automated magnetic-particle platforms. Its patent covers potential diagnostics for 11 cancer types.

The company aims to clinically validate and register the test so it can separate men at risk of prostate cancer, who need a confirmatory biopsy, from healthy men. Following the out-licensing of the prostate test, the company plans to focus its pipeline on breast, pancreas and lung cancer. Revenue is tied to this licensing model.

Glycanostics was established in 2017 and is headquartered in Bratislava, Slovakia. It was founded by Ján Tkáč and Tomáš Bertók, and its CEO is Eva Kováčová. The company reports receiving an ERC Proof of Concept grant, an EIC Accelerator grant and an EIC Transition Seal of Excellence. In January 2026 it announced the grant of a European patent for a standard for glycoprofiling of proteins.
