About Gen2 Energy
Gen2 Energy AS develops, builds, controls and operates an integrated green hydrogen value chain, with production based on renewable energy and a logistics network for distribution. The company has chosen a strategy based mainly on liquid hydrogen, while evaluating compressed and liquefied forms for its main distribution. It plans smart containers with sensors, valves and communication modules, and a plug-and-play delivery model it describes as Hydrogen-as-a-Service.
The company plans to sell green hydrogen to European customers and aims to give renewable power producers a way to use more of their electricity. In May 2026 it was awarded 62 million euros under the Innovation Fund Auction Support to deliver industrial-scale liquefied hydrogen for the maritime market.
Gen2 Energy was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Borre, Norway, with a visiting office in Oslo. Its four planned production sites are in Åfjord, Mosjøen (two projects) and Farsund. In May 2026 the company announced confirmation of a total capacity reservation of 150 MW for its project at Monstad in Åfjord municipality. Camilla Nilsson was appointed CEO effective 1 September 2026, and Lena Halvari is Chief Operating Officer. Open positions include Process Safety Manager, Project Manager Hydrogen Storage Container, Process Engineer and Senior Project Manager for a hydrogen electrolysis plant.
